The "Architecture of London" series is a testament to the enduring allure of a city that never ceases to inspire. Its inception dates back to 2010, born out of a serendipitous encounter with the nightscape of Emirates Royal Docks. Standing on the edge of London’s timeless Thames, armed with my trusted Canon 5D MKII mounted on a sturdy tripod, I was mesmerised by the luminous silhouette of the O2 Arena juxtaposed against the stately architecture of the docks. Determined to immortalise this fleeting magic, I captured a series of frames with varying exposures, later blending them into a single composition. The result was "Emirates Royal Docks at Night," a piece that radiates the vibrancy of London's nocturnal hues.
The following year, the series grew organically during one of my many evening walks along the Thames. As the city’s lights danced on the river’s surface, I felt compelled to document the harmony of colours, lights, and shadows enveloping London’s historic bridges. The "Southwark Bridge Illuminated," "Cannon Street Bridge and Skyline," and "Blackfriars Bridge and London Skyline" soon joined the ranks, each image crafted with the same meticulous process that defined the series’ debut piece. Together, these works narrate a story of London’s architecture as seen through the lens of light and time.
What began as an individual pursuit of capturing beauty evolved into a unified vision—a series that celebrates the grandeur and spirit of London. The interplay of modernity and history, light and shadow, colour and form, is what defines "Architecture of London" as more than a collection of photographs. It is a love letter to a city that endlessly inspires.
